Back into blogging with my new gadget Onkyo Hometheatre.
After a long research and suggestions from friends I have decided to purchase Onkyo 7409 which comes with TX-NR609 network Receiver. Not going much into technical details of the system but summary of technical and functional goes as follows:
- THX-Certified TX-NR609 Network Receiver
- 6 HDMI Inputs and 1 HDMI output
- 130 watts per channel
- 5.1 channel speaker system
- Supports 2 zones.
- Video up scaling to 4K with Qdeo Technology
- Front USB connection to directly play the media from iPhone/usb stick.
- Network playback of audio files
- iPhone and android apps to control the receiver
- Audyssey room correction and Equalization
- Interactive screen menus
- Internet apps Spotify.
- Interactive on Screen menus.
After connecting the speakers and calibrating, the first word I spoke was ‘WOW’ and that’s the best way we can put it with its sound quality. I really enjoyed watching movies, TV Programs, listening music, internet applications. It changed the way I hear to the media. The best feature is Audyssey feature to adjust the acoustics.
Gone through few websites on the setup of the speaker positions. Few points to remember:
- For the best possible sound the front and center speakers should be at ear level when seated and all the three – front left, right and center speakers should be exactly same distance from where you sit and this can be achieved by placing them in an arc position.
- Surround speakers are bit tricky and on trial and error methods we can set them in position but some points to remember is they should not be at the same level of ears when seated. Keep them at ear level when you stand that way they don’t over power your front speakers.
- Subwoofers generally result in more bass when placed near a wall or near a corner you get even more bass. Same with sub-woofer too placing at different positions result in different types of bass delivery.
- Room also has lot of effect on set up – carpet room, more reflective surfaces, larger rooms, irregular shape rooms. Speakers near the wall will increase bass output whereas when they stay far from wall lessens the bass but improves the clarity.
The site I followed to set up the home theater is: Crutchfield Learning Center.
Naturally everyone has their own preference of listening to the music. So, it all depends on many factors.
I got this system from Amazon. Additional accessories purchased front speaker stands. Still need to get 16 AWG(American wire Gauge), banana plugs. Until now happy with the system performance and definitely would recommend to whoever in the market for home theaters….:)
