Super Soft Cake

Cooking is one of my favorite hobby and I often cook with my own measurements…;) Finally the end product will be adjusted according to taste. May be blogging allows me to cook in a systematic way to share the recipe in the blog.

So this Friday thought of preparing a cake along with my daughter. This is homemade cake with simple ingredients.

Ingredients:

  • 3 Eggs
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 1/4th  cup All-purpose Flour
  • 1 table spoon Vanilla Essence
  • 1/4th cup cooking oil
  • 1 table spoon Cake improver Gel.

Pre Preparation:

  • Add butter layer to the baking dish and keep it aside.
  • Pre heat oven at 350 degrees.

Preparation:

  • Add eggs, sugar, vanilla essence and cake improver gel to a bowl and blend it well till the mixture gets foam.

  • Add oil and all-purpose flour to the mixture and blend it for another 3mins.
  • Add the mixture to the baking dish and make sure the quantity in the baking dish is only 3/4th of the dish.

  • Place the dish in the oven and bake it for 20 minutes. Keep checking the cake after 15 minutes and if you feel it is not yet baked continue for another 5 minutes. Generally it should be baked in 20mins under oven setting of 350 degrees.

It has come out so soft and pluffy…:)

Onkyo Hometheatre 7409

Back into blogging with my new gadget Onkyo Hometheatre.

After a long research and suggestions from friends I have decided to purchase Onkyo 7409 which comes with TX-NR609 network Receiver. Not going much into technical details of the system but summary of technical and functional goes as follows:

  • THX-Certified TX-NR609 Network Receiver
  • 6 HDMI Inputs and 1 HDMI output
  • 130 watts per channel
  • 5.1 channel speaker system
  • Supports 2 zones.
  • Video up scaling to 4K with Qdeo Technology
  • Front USB connection to directly play the media from iPhone/usb stick.
  • Network playback of audio files
  • iPhone and android apps to control the receiver
  • Audyssey room correction and Equalization
  • Interactive screen menus
  • Internet apps Spotify.
  • Interactive on Screen menus.

After connecting the speakers and calibrating, the first word I spoke was ‘WOW’ and that’s the best way we can put it with its sound quality. I really enjoyed watching movies, TV Programs, listening music, internet applications. It changed the way I hear to the media. The best feature is Audyssey feature to adjust the acoustics.

Gone through few websites on the setup of the speaker positions. Few points to remember:

  1. For the best possible sound the front and center speakers should be at ear level when seated and all the three – front left, right and center speakers should be exactly same distance from where you sit and this can be achieved by placing them in an arc position.
  2. Surround speakers are bit tricky and on trial and error methods we can set them in position but some points to remember is they should not be at the same level of ears when seated. Keep them at ear level when you stand that way they don’t over power your front speakers.
  3. Subwoofers generally result in more bass when placed near a wall or near a corner you get even more bass. Same with sub-woofer too placing at different positions result in different types of bass delivery.
  4. Room also has lot of effect on set up – carpet room, more reflective surfaces, larger rooms, irregular shape rooms. Speakers near the wall will increase bass output whereas when they stay far from wall lessens the bass but improves the clarity.

The site I followed to set up the home theater is: Crutchfield Learning Center.

Naturally everyone has their own preference of listening to the music. So, it all depends on many factors.

I got this system from Amazon. Additional accessories purchased front speaker stands. Still need to get 16 AWG(American wire Gauge), banana plugs. Until now happy with the system performance and definitely would recommend to whoever in the market for home theaters….:)

iPad2 launching – part2 Accessories

No Big surprises yet as till now all the features added were all ready expected features and  the real surprise will be if they announce Flash support. I guess Apples main intention is to judge their product rather than going for high end tablets like Motorola Xoom which is  with multi processors and costlier than ipads. Now getting on to the accessories:

  • HDMI Video out
  • What you on Ipad is what you see out…:) upto 1080p
  • Charge your ipad while you are using it
  • Smart covers
  • iOS 4.3 – Increasing safari performance, Nitro Java Script engine from MacOS X.
  • Wireless streaming over wifi to iPad, iPhone, iPod touch
  • Apps and web sites can be played from airplay
  • iOS 4.3 on March 11 for ipad, iphone 4 and iPod touch 4th generation
  • iMovie app which comes with an editor, multi-track auto recording, playback on airplay.
  • timeline app which comes with 50 sound effects, create clips, pick clips etc.

On summary nothing much great than expected. At least it would be nice if they had given the option of USB port, SD Card slot. People who don’t like iPad will not love iPad2. Over all iPad2 is with camera, better processing and light weight.

Samsung Captivate Android 2.2

Samsung Captivate Android 2.2 Froyo is officially released through AT&T. (on a side note it was available from May 2010 for those who did already root the phone) . Let me tell you some of the new features with Android 2.2 Froyo:

  • Support for USB Tethering
  • Mobile Hotspot
  • Install apps on SD Card
  • Enhanced Microsoft Exchange
  • Flash 10.1

Steps I followed while upgrading to Android 2.2 Froyo:

  • Launch Kies in Laptop/Desktop
  • Make sure the phone is charged fully before starting the upgrade process.
  • When Kies is launched it checks for latest version of the Kies. If it is not the latest it asks for the upgrade of Kies.
  • After getting the latest Kies restart the system and launch the Kies.
  • Connect the phone in the USB Settings of Kies(Firmware update)
  • After the connection in the Kies window it asks for upgrade and click on the upgrade icon.
  • That’s it…you are done! Sit back and relax till the phone restarts with new upgrade.

It took 8 minutes for me for the whole process. Few changes I noted as soon as I switched on the phone: Keyboard change, Desktop settings changed, new default apps like car mode, home mode etc. Now I have to check more for new features, performance and will add more details about it in my next post.

Is it True? iPhone 200$ no service contract

News circulating all over the web that Apple is going to launch a smaller version contract free iPhone for 200$ which will be a third smaller of the current iPhone and with out a home button told by the person who saw the prototype. As in the current market so many smartphones are being offered at low price made apple bound to offer the low price model.

But the option of contract free and lesser price phone will help new model to be attracted international markets and easy switching of carriers. May be in US we can expect this smaller phone for free with a two year service contract :) Sweet..isn’t it?

But I guess people might be expecting a bigger screen iPhone rather than a smaller one! Lets see how the public responses for the newer version of iPhone. It can be a bigger screen or a smaller screen. Apple can do anything :)

News is that Apple is also developing a technology called Universal SIM which allows users to switch between different networks without switching traditional SIM cards.

Saurav Ganguly retiring from cricket……..

Is it true…..our Dada, Saurav Ganguly retiring? I know web is flooded with this news and for some it might not be a surprise as he is seen away from international cricket from past 3 years. What ever be his performance during last few matches of his presence but retiring in such a way that none of the IPL team selecting him was disappointing and made him to take the decision of retiring from Cricket. His first ODI debut was in January 1992 vs West Indies and Test debut was in June 1996 vs England. He was last seen in November 2007 ODI vs Pakistan and in November 2008 Test match vs Australia. Since then he has been participating in Ranji Trophies.

Some of his comments on indulging him in politics “I have played cricket as captain for 5 years, 8 years under different skippers. I have helped in building what Team India is today. And this does not come by playing politics.”

He was very much disappointed for not being selected to IPL4 in any of the 10 teams of which almost 70 Indians were selected. and he was practicing cricket and participating in Ranji’s to be fit for IPL. But when none of the IPL teams showed interest he took this decision. He was so disappointed that he said he is not interested in playing competitive cricket. But his passion for cricket will not die.

My blog on Dada is only to show sympathy for one of the successful captain for retiring from Cricket with a disappointment. Hope he will find a way in sharing and training his talent and game to young cricket fans of India. All the best DADA!
